Chili for our Troops

 

			Click to Play	Friends, I've tried sending this a few ways and hope that this works. Needless to say,you all have every reason to be proud of what you've done. You gave our troops a taste of what we all go thru as chili cooks and you gave them a much needed chance to relax for a few hours and to forget (temporarily) what they do. Sincere heartfelt thanks to EVERYONE! A special thank you to Vickie and Bob Marnick for supplying the tasting cups,Kimberly and David Mallory for supplying the beautiful trophies and to Carol Hancock for supplying much needed encouragement and wisdom (again) and for being a participant! We all showed that it doesn't matter if you're a East Coast or West Coast (or Canadian) chili cook... we're just chili cooks that wanted to help others...as we all do so well!

From Cabinet.com AMHERST - Soldiers injured in Iraq and Afghanistan will get voice-activated computers thanks to a partnership between the Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce and local Soldiers’ Angels volunteers.

Anyone attending the chamber’s annual Expo on Oct. 22 who mentions Soldiers’ Angels at the door will have one dollar of their admission price go to the nonprofit Soldiers’Angels, a national organization that provides aid and comfort to servicemen and women.

The chamber is hoping to raise enough money to buy 10 of the devices to be given to armed forces personnel recovering from hand wounds and other injuries. Injured soldiers can use voice-activated computers to communicate with their family and friends, research medical treatments and use computer-based recovery tools.

The Expo will feature more than 150 booths displaying products, services and food samples from businesses from all over the region. Major sponsors are Wal-Mart, First Colebrook Bank, Public Service of New Hampshire, and The Cabinet Pres

The official date of the founding of the US Air Force is 18 September 1947.  It was a momentous event that 59 years later has demonstrated the achievement of  an Air Force second-to-none. Its history and heritage goes back a lot further.   From the time that the US military purchased its first aircraft in 1909 up to 1947, the US Air Force did not exist as a separate and independent military service organization. It went through a series of designations: Aeronautical Section, Signal Corps (1909); Aviation Section, Signal Corps (1914); United States Army  Air Service (1918); United States Army Air Corps (1926),  United States Army Air Forces (1941).
